Smoke, Fire and Thunder - Saturday Report

Saturday’s show at MRP was highlighted by several drivers running their personal bests. Kerry Stone with the Cutting Edge team made a full 1/4 mile pass and clocked in at a 6.02. Kerry’s next run was slightly more eventful, as his Camaro made a move towards the centreline at about the 1000' mark and as the car went farther and farther out of the groove, Stone found the car sideways at well over 200mph. Kerry wisely lifted but still had a handful settling down the car until the chutes deployed, straightening the car out and bringing it to a safe stop.

Steve Goddard ran a new personal best for the second outing in a row, lowering his quickest ET to a 4.06 in the 1/8 mile.

Goddard lined up against veteran Pro Mod racer, Keith Korecki. Goddard's GTO was sideways immediately after the hit, almost clipping the tree, while Korecki lost the handle of his Mustang and ended up over the centreline, all the way into Goddard’s lane.

Steve Nicholson ended the third Pro Mod show with a pedaling 4.13 with his 10.5 Sonny's split window 1963 Corvette.

The next WCPM is a points race, September 10-11 at Yellowstone Drag Strip in Montana.
