An iffy forecast for Sunday forced a last minute change of schedule for the WCPM at the Rocky Mountain Nationals, as the group elected to have a third and final qualifying run early Saturday afternoon, before completing Round 1 and Round 2 of eliminations later on Saturday evening.
Round 1 of eliminations took place in front of a capacity crowd at Rad Torque Raceway, with #1 qualifier Garrett Richards taking the bye, Steve Goddard beating Wade Sjostrom and Scott Blake reset the track record with his 3.806 on a bye after Tom Reithmayer could not make the call. Sander Spelt also got past Rick Barnhart and Ryan Griffin ran a carreer best 3.974 to defeat Dave Robinson.
In Round 2 Garrett Richards defeated Steve Goddard, Scott Blake received a bye and in the race of the weekend Ryan Griffin bettered his earlier career best with a 3.905 to defeat Sander Spelt’s 3.925.
In the semi finals today Garrett Richards faces Scott Blake, while Ryan Griffin has a bye into the finals.
