Full Blown Frenzy - Event Preview
The 2024 West Coast Pro Modifieds season is scheduled to get underway this weekend, as an expected full field of West Coast Pro Mods are set to compete at the Walt Austin Legacy Race in Kent, Washington.
As 2023 champion Jordie Lazic is not competing with the West Coast Pro Modifieds this season, 2024 will see someone new be crowned series champion. Two early favourites are local Washington racers, Rian Hayward and Garrett Richards. Garrett and Rian finished only eight points apart last season (Rian’s 1760 points to Garrett’s 1752) and both drivers will be looking to start the 2024 season with a win. The race would be especially memorable if Garrett Richards is able to find his way to the winner’s circle. The inaugural Walt Austin Legacy race, Walt was an invaluable member of Garrett’s crew and engineered many of the parts on Garrett’s unique supercharged Ford engine.
Also competing this weekend in their hometown race this weekend is Tumwater, Washington’s Ryan Griffin, who will be piloting the Airport Glass & DRG Fencing Mustang. “This is the closest to home we get to race all year, and an awesome way to kick off the 2024 season” said Ryan. “I’m excited to race in front of my family, my friends, and employees at my home track.”
On track action starts on Friday with West Coast Pro Modifieds competitors given three rounds of qualifying with eliminations on Saturday. If you are in the Pacific Northwest and wanting to check out the event, tickets can be purchased directly from Pacific Raceways.
